During the fall 2025 semester, Clemson University fraternity Delta Chi was investigated, charged with hazing violations and placed on probation.

The Organizational Conduct Cases report, made available pursuant to the South Carolina Tucker Hipps Transparency Act, outlined the violations along with sanctions the fraternity must comply with.

Delta Chi “incorporated hazing practices” in its new member process, according to the report. This included new members participating in pledge driving, personal labor and line-ups that “included mild calisthenics.”

The fraternity also created a script for its members that had “potential to disrupt” the Office of Community and Ethical Standards’ investigation.

After OCES investigated the alleged hazing violations, it concluded that there was “substantive evidence” that the fraternity violated the University’s hazing policies.

Delta Chi received three sanctions. The fraternity will be on disciplinary probation until January 2028 and social probation until the conclusion of the fall 2026 semester. It is also required to comply with the Delta Chi headquarters educational screening, which has been outlined in the “Corrective Action” section within the fraternity’s risk management program.

The fraternity was recently released from disciplinary probation in December due to alcohol violations during a “Wine Mixer” event in 2024.

Three other fraternities, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Nu and Kappa Sigma, were placed on disciplinary probation for alcohol and hazing violations at the end of the 2025 spring semester.
