“I feel like it’s a different restaurant, because most of the places down here are normally focused on all of the college kids,” Drew Penley, Evolve Kitchen + Table chef, told The Tiger in an interview. “It’s cool to have a spot where the kids can bring their parents when they’re in town.”

Evolve is a farmhouse-style but modern restaurant in the middle of downtown. It is the perfect gathering-centric environment to showcase Clemson’s family-oriented traditions, with indoor and outdoor seating for quiet lunches or dinners. They are the definition of a clean, classy environment, with an elevated menu and a warm atmosphere.

“Slightly nicer place to go, a lot quieter, you know?” Penley said. “I guess I’ll say, like, more detail put into the stuff and just different environments.”

When asked what three qualities he believes won Evolve this award, “The quality of the menu, the environment, and then just like how the whole thing operates, really… it runs pretty well,“ Penley explained to The Tiger.

Penely shared that his favorite part of working at Evolve is “other than cooking for all the, like, kids’ parents and getting to see different crowds and stuff during football games, probably working with the teams, like we do a bunch of catering for some of the teams here.”
