The Clemson University Presidential Search Committee announced on Tuesday that it is still actively seeking a successor and has launched a website to foster transparency among the administration, student body and faculty.
The presidential search website outlines a presidential prospectus, numerous statistics and its “bold plan.” This website will serve as a main resource for information and updates about the selection process.
The prospectus explains that the committee is looking for the right individual who will continue to raise the bar across “academics, research, enrollment, student success, fundraising and building community.”
“The right leader will champion outreach and service that exemplify our land-grant mission and make a difference to the people of South Carolina, the nation and the world,” the prospectus continues.
The prospectus also outlines key characteristics an executive should possess, including an excellent record of scholarly achievements, traits of inspiration and leadership, the ability to work with donors, a prioritization of proactive listening and transparent communication and more.
The committee believes the next president will have an extraordinary vision with strategies that will “make a significant difference.”
The committee’s plan is part of Clemson Elevate’s broader strategic plan, which is designed to strengthen the University’s reputation. Through the plan, the committee laid out three strategic pillars: delivering the No. 1 student experience to the nation, doubling research at the University by 2035 and transforming lives overall.
“Our committee deeply appreciates the many organizations and stakeholder groups who participated in recent discussions. Your thoughtful feedback has directly influenced the prospectus and helped ensure it reflects what matters most to our campus and broader community,” Cheri Phyfer, committee chair, wrote in an email sent to students and faculty on Tuesday.
