A Clemson University police officer responded to a possible overdose call at Lightsey Bridge at 11 p.m. on Sept. 8. The call detailed an individual to have felt like they were going to pass out after consuming a form of delta-8 THC, according to an incident report obtained by The Tiger.

An officer was on the scene at 11:07 p.m. and knocked on the apartment door. The residents opened the door and said that there was “no emergency” and that “no one was over dosing.”

The individual, later identified as a student, was not in the apartment at this time.

When the second responding officer arrived on the scene, she met with the other officer and the medical team. Dispatch advised the police team that the possible victim was “making way toward a fire truck,” according to the report.

The police officers then reconvened at the Lightsey common building and saw an individual matching the individual’s description “climbing into the back of an ambulance.”

One of the officers’ initial narratives says that the individual was “not complying with EMS’s instructions to sit on the stretcher in the ambulance.” The medics shut the ambulance doors to prevent the individual from escaping professional care.

The individual was transported to Oconee Memorial Hospital and refrained from providing any information and refused to speak to the police.

An officer returned to the scene of the potential overdose to collect more information, but the residents were “not forthcoming with any further information,” and they said that “nothing had been taken,” according to the incident report.

The well-being of the victim is not known at this time, nor is the identification of the drug.
