A teenager has died, and two are injured following a car accident on Saturday in Liberty, South Carolina.
At 1:50 p.m., Pickens County Coroner Andrew Wilson responded to the area of Breazeale Road and Ashley Lane after receiving a report of a death caused by a vehicle collision, according to a press release from the Pickens County Coroner’s Office. The crash involved only the singular vehicle.
The deceased was identified as 17-year-old Leeland Cole Yates, who was a passenger wearing a seatbelt in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The car’s two other occupants were treated by Pickens County Emergency Medical Services and then transported to a local hospital after the crash.
The incident is currently under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and PCCO.
