The votes are in, and the Clemson community has named Groucho’s Deli as its best sandwich shop.

Groucho’s offers a wide range of options to satisfy whatever taste you’re looking for. Along with various sandwiches and subs, its menu offers different options of delicious salads, pitas, desserts and more.

Groucho’s most popular sandwiches are the STP Dipper and the Apollo Dipper. The STP is loaded with roast beef, turkey and Swiss cheese, melted to perfection with a sprinkle of bacon crumbs and served on a fat sub roll. The Apollo features ham and turkey, again highlighted by melted cheese and a fat subroll. Both items are served with savory sauces, such as the famous Formula “45” or Danish Bleu, for dipping.

There’s no doubt that Groucho’s has excellent ingredients, but the family atmosphere that you feel the moment you step in the door distinguishes it from all competition.

“The service is what really sets us apart,” Jamie Mellon, the owner of Groucho’s Deli of Clemson, told The Tiger.

Groucho’s consistently fosters connections within the Clemson community by actively participating in percent nights, contributing to various student organizations and supporting Clemson students and groups.

The deli initially opened in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1941 but made its way to Clemson in 2010. Today, there are 30 locations across South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, all continuing to follow Harold “Groucho” Miller’s original philosophy: “Quality is the most important ingredient in a sandwich.”

As the owner, Mellon hopes to carry on the shop’s success by connecting with more people throughout the Clemson area and serving more happy customers.
