In a year of loss and hardship, Clemson students had to say a hard goodbye to their favorite burger place downtown. There is no denying that BGR was one of the best places to bring your family and to hang out with friends.
“What it lacks in vowels, it makes up for in value,” Grace Miller, a sophomore health science major fondly said of the restaurant.
Found on College Avenue, BGR offered something for everyone. From their classic Clemson burger to lettuce wraps, anyone could find something to enjoy after a night out on the town. For Rachel Anderson, a sophomore biochemistry major, BGR was a great place to get a meal with a dietary restriction.
“As a vegetarian it’s hard to find good options to eat downtown, so I will really miss their veggie burgers. And their sweet potato fries are to die for,” Anderson said.
Losing Clemson’s favorite burger is a reminder to continue to safely support businesses in the area, whether that’s through takeout or finding a table outside. If you are having BGR withdrawal, there are other locations to find your favorite burger. Atlanta is only a two-hour drive from campus. Otherwise, we will just have to wait and see what restaurant replaces our favorite burger joint.
