Suspicious person pointing and presenting firearms at a group of students
Around midnight on March 3, the Clemson University Police Department responded to a report of an armed individual near Lightsey Bridge.
A group of students called in the report after an Uber in a white SUV pulled up to them with a pistol. The driver had pulled the handgun from the glove box and pointed it at them through the window. The students ran, ducked and crawled to Lightsey.
The driver assured them that it was only “a joke, it’s just a prank” and that the orange tip on the pistol was a toy.
According to the driver, a group of students ran away laughing, and only one appeared to be frightened. He said that the entire event lasted about eight seconds.
The driver said that he no longer possessed the toy gun.
Tiger Transit bus hits Clemson skateboarder near Mickel Hall
On Feb. 16, around 8 p.m., a Tiger Transit bus struck a Clemson student in front of Mickel Hall.
The student was riding a motorized skateboard on Fort Hill Street when the oncoming Tiger Transit vehicle tried to pass a truck that had stopped on the road. The car had only been stationary for a few seconds before the Tiger Transit bus maneuvered around it onto the other side of the road.
The student on the other side of the road was struck by the driver’s side mirror of the bus. The mirror was shattered and put out of place.
The student landed on the sidewalk and was rushed to the hospital. Police followed the victim to photograph his injuries and return his skateboard and AirPods.
The driver of the Tiger Transit was found at fault and issued a citation, according to the University Police incident report.
