The Clemson Undergraduate Student Government Senate held internal elections on Monday, Feb. 22 for Senate President, President Pro-Tempore, Secretary and Clerk.

The regular reports from each committee preceded elections, with several new developments. Sen. Fowler, chair of the campus life committee, revealed that fall housing move-in will be from Aug. 12 to 14.

A recommendation to create a commission to research and address rape and sexual assault, authored by Sen. Moore, was passed.

The first position up for election was Senate President, for which we saw Secretary Abby Kibler and Sens. Finnell, Rogers, and Billrough in the running. Sen. Williams decided to remove her name from the ballot.

Rogers was selected as Senate President-elect. She was previously Chairman of the Student Activities Committee. Rogers is also the Vice President of Clemson’s chapter of Turning Point U.S.A.

Running for President Pro-Tempore were Sens. Franke and Mazzeo.

Sen. Franke was selected as President Pro-Tempore-elect. Franke was previously on the Academic Affairs Committee.

Sen. Doerflein ran unopposed and was selected as Senate Secretary-elect. Doerflien is currently secretary of the Gressette/Mickel Community Council.

Sen. Bynum was selected as Senate Clerk-elect after Sen. Tiffin exited the race. She was a second term senator on the Transportation & Facilities Committee.

The meeting ended at 3:10 A.M. on Tuesday, after just over eight hours.
