When Clemson faces off against South Carolina this Saturday, Nov. 26, it will mark 3,283 days since the Gamecocks have defeated the Tigers.
A lot has changed since 2013, South Carolina’s most recent win, so here’s a reminder of what happened in that year.
— “Iron Man 3” was the top-grossing movie of the year. Since then, Disney’s Marvel Studios has released 43 movies and TV shows. Ty Simpkins, who played the role of young teenager Harley Keener in the film, went on to star in “Jurassic World” two years later.
— “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz sat number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songs in 2013. The song helped propel Macklemore onto the scene and into stardom, but unfortunately for Macklemore, it proved to be a brief stint.
— The iPhone 5s was released by Apple, featuring the — at the time — revolutionary way of unlocking the phone with a user’s thumbprint on the home button. Flash forward to today, and Apple hasn’t released an iPhone since 2017 that features a home button on it.
— Trevor Lawrence was still in middle school. The former Clemson superstar quarterback was in eighth grade the last time South Carolina beat Clemson. Just a few years later, Lawrence would play his fair share in the Tigers’ win streak over South Carolina.
— Target suffered a security breach during the holiday season. Many either knew someone or were affected by this event as cybercriminals stole 40 million debit and credit card records, as well as 70 million customer records, according to a 2017 NBC news article. Target would later be required to pay $18.5 million spread out to 47 different states who filed claims.
