Clemson professor Gregory Batt and alumnus James Gilbert have been given a $500,000 to study triboelectric generators which power smart packaging devices.
Batt and Gilbert’s research will provide technology for smart packaging to monitor products while they are transported. As the demand for monitoring devices during product transportation increases so will a way to power them.
Researchers have spent decades looking for a way to replace the battery power used now, with a way to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, professor Batt and Gilbert will be doing just that.
