Editor’s Note: Stokes Brownlee was expunged of the charge on May 1, 2017, after completing a pre-trial intervention program.
Clemson student Stokes Brownlee, a 19-year-old freshman general engineering major, has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual misconduct. According to an article by Anderson Independent Mail, Brownlee forced a woman to perform oral sex on him at a Sigma Chi fraternity house in Seneca.
The fraternity has already been suspended from Clemson until 2025, citing violation of “multiple school policies.”
He is held on $35,000 bail and remains in custody at Oconee County Detention Center as of Wednesday.
Brownlee was expected to play baseball for Clemson this season, but he was cut from the team in February. Spokesman John Gouch said that the cut was not in relation to a violation, and that he “just didn’t make the team.”
This is the second alleged sexual assault at this fraternity house. The first occurred in February of 2015; no arrests were made.
